IMDB is updated by the public. That could include everybody, even people from the business.
I'm surprised nobody looked further into this matter btw.

Then people running Imdb are not doing their jobs ,they should check every day for errors.
Well, imdb is quite large. And I believe people who aren't with imdb add stuff to it every day. I think for the people running imdb it's almost impossible to check everything every day, they simply don't have the staff for it I think. A site that's updated by millions of people every day is prone to have lots of errors or unconfirmed rumours because of that. Yet alone make the workload quite huge.
Also, a lot of info about actors and such has to be brought to the public by their publicity agents, but many times they won't even share it until it's safe to do so. I think a lot of people may hear something (either a gossip or fact), decide to share it on imdb or elsewhere while it may not even be true. Or they just come up with stuff and share it on the Net. It could also very well be this rumour about Kaley in Supernatural was discussed somewhere, causing other people to think it's true and share it on imdb.
So, there's more to this whole thing than just imdb not doing their job. Just wanted to let you know.
The IMDB folks certainly have a job I wouldn't envy, their time must be full just looking after their forums with the amount of lying, b*tching and general rubbish that goes on there.
It's difficult to find out information as the CW's press site seems to be completely locked down to registered, official, people. It's very hard to verify this then, makes it difficult. I just wish people wouldn't spread junk rumours, what on earth do they gain from it?
