8 Simple Rules: Season 2 is almost out on DVD, it comes out May 19th, and SitcomsOnline.com have posted their review.

Those of us hoping that the change of distributor, from Buena Vista to Lionsgate, might mean better special features, will be disappointed. As Pavan Badal, owner of Pavan's 8 Simple Rules site, reveals in the review, there are no special features. Not the ABC 'John Ritter: A Life of Laughter' special, not the feature Buena Vista produced for DVD back in 2007, nothing at all.

The DVDs have actually worsened. The sound goes from Dolby Digital 5.1 to 2.0 Surround Sound and introductions the cast made for John Ritter's final three episodes are missing.

I personally think it's shameful that not only are there no extras, not a single tribute to John Ritter, but that they haven't even presented the episodes as they aired - with Katey Sagal introducing John's final 3 episodes.

Under this ABC-Lionsgate deal they released 'Hope and Faith' Season 1 on DVD, it got 4 discs for the same number of episodes and lots of special features. 8SR, for the season where John died, got absolutely nothing.

Wow that took a LONG time to come out.

That's too bad. That also means with no special features the season 2 will not sell very well, and we may never see season 3.

That is my worry too. I know from reading forums when the 1st season came out, a lot of people were on the fence about whether they'd get season 2 (and especially 3) and this long wait between seasons & lack of extras will surely put many off buying it.

I do worry we might not see that season.

on my birthday list for my birthday in september
um that does sounds disappointing, that makes
me sad but i'am still going to put this item on
my birthday list in september

Well, today's the day. The DVD was released today in the U.S. & Canada, you can get it from Amazon.com.

It'll be a couple of weeks before I get my copy, it has to travel across the ocean ... and I usually go for the 2nd best & 2nd cheapest shipping option. The best shipping probably costs more than the item itself!
